Summer Days (July 28)

So, now that we have a backyard I have been really wanting to get Olivia a little pool to play in. So, I did. I first went to Superstore: they had nothing, then I went to Walmart: they had nothing, then I went to Toys R Us and they had a lot of inflatable ones. So, I bought one. Then, I went to Lowes to get a pump to pump up the pool.

I woke up on a hot summer day and decided I was going to put the pool out for Olivia. I get the pool out and the air pump. I realize the pump needs to be plugged in to a vehicle to work. WHAT??? So, I have to back out one vehicle of the garage, bring the pool into the garage, and then plug in pump and inflate the pool. However, the pool is not inflating. And, I can't figure it out! Is the pump not working? What attachment to I need to use?? I read the instructions to the pool and the pump over and over again. Finally I realize that the hole that the air is supposed to go into, is filled in with plastic: THERE IS NO HOLE! So, I go to the store to get another pool. I figure it must just be a fluke that the hole is plugged

I bring that new pool home, and guess what.....THE HOLE IS PLUGGED!!  Is this NORMAL???? I tried poking holes in it with a pin, but that didn't work. No air was going in. At that point I had decided to not waste any more time on the dang pool.

Anyways, it rained for the next couple of days. Then, on another hot, summer day (today) I decided to look at it again (the hole was still covered) and then called the 1-800 number of the company. Of course it was a machine on the other end of the line. I really didn't feel like putting effort into taking the pool back to the store, or trying to to get a new one from the company.

So, what's the next best thing?? ....

....getting out the drill!!

Yup, I drilled holes where there should have already been holes. It worked and I was able to get air in the pool!

Oliva had such a fun time!! But, who knew getting a little wading pool would be such an ordeal???

Aren't you the smartest thing! Who would have thought a wading pool could cause so many problems.

I remember having one of those pools as a kid. They never stop being popular. Good to put your feet in and cool off as well.
