She was sitting on my lap, I was holding her hands, and she was smiling and cooing at the nurse. Then, as a complete shock to her, she was jabbed with a needle (I personally was shocked at how long it was and at how far she stuck it in!). Olivia lets out a huge scream! The Nurse waited a couple seconds and Olivia had calmed down....but then another one came! The screams got louder! The nurse again waited a couple seconds, but Olivia wasn't calming down, so she just pricked her again. Meanwhile, I can't help but have a few tears in my own eyes. It just breaks my heart to hear her scream like that and to know that it hurt her. I think by the end of all 3 shots she was pretty ticked off...I had to console her a for a good 5 minutes...she was so mad that she wouldn't even nurse at first. She calmed down a bit and I was able to nurse her. I know these vaccines will help her be healthy in life, but still...it was really hard for me seeing her go through that.
At 2 months and 1 week, these are some of the things I love about Olivia:
- She is so smiley
- loves to talk and babble
- getting better at tummy time
- I swear I heard her laugh once. I haven't heard it since, but it definitely was a laugh. SO CUTE!!!
- she weighs 11.10 lbs (gaining approx 5 oz/wk)
- is 24 cm long
- she enjoys sucking on her fist every now and again
- she will not take a soother
- she will not take a bottle
- she is usually asleep for the night at around 10:00pm and will sleep until 5:00am for a 10-minute feeding, then back down for 2-3 hours
- She really loves music. This is a tactic that Wes uses a lot to calm her
- she continues to enrich our lives each day!

I know it is hard get your kids vaccinated. I remember one time we all went to go get the flu shot and maria was trying to protect me from the nurse with the needle. It was very cute but she knew what was coming!!! Hopefully i will get pics up today...
We never like to see our children in pain, no matter what age they are but it is part of life and we just need to be there for them. Good think she had her mom with her.
oh Amanda...that brought tears to my eyes....that is one of the worst thing out there....I never had to take Reece by myself until her 2 year vaccinations....either mom, or a friend would come with me and hold her until it was done that pass her back to me.....I just couldn't bear to watch it :( It does get better though...Reece's vaccination for the H1N1 shot didnt even phase her :)
