Rude? (Oct 19)

Olivia has a hitting problem. We have been told that she does not hit at nursery, or at play-dates. But, she hits when kids are at our house, she hits Aubrey, and she'll hit mommy and daddy. She will also hit her cousins. I'm not sure if it's just coincidental, or if she only hits when mommy and/or daddy are there. Who knows? Until now we have mostly been trying to re-direct her, telling her that she's hurting others by hitting, having her say sorry, show us how to be soft. That doesn't seem to be doing anything. At all.

We have decided we should start doing time-outs. I went back and forth between giving her time-outs or not just because I wasn't sure if she was getting it. The "experts" say that by age two they understand discipline. She's pretty-much two. To be honest, I should have been consistent with the whole time-out thing a long time ago, but I quite often second-guess myself. : /

So, today she hit Aubrey. No surprise to me. I immediately told her "we don't hit, you are sitting in time-out". I picked her up, and sat her by the wall at the top of the stairs.

Without any emotion in her voice, she said calmly, "Mommy rude".

Where on earth does she get these things from?? :)
