Pumpkin Carving

We love carving pumpkins at Halloween! It's neat to see the girls' different reactions every year based on their ages! This year, Aubrey was really excited at first! Couldn't wait to get going. BUT, once she saw the "guts" she wanted no part of it! ha! Olivia loved every minute of it!
And, it was so fun to do this with Grandma, Aunty and cousins!

Aubrey trying to be very brave. A little too close for comfort!

Love Aubrey's pictures! THIS is as close as she got! haha!. She just told me, "mommy, I can't". She couldn't bring herself to stick her hand in there. I have a feeling next year she'll be all over it!

As you can see, Olivia loved this part!!!
 LOVED. IT.

When were were done getting all the insides out, I told the girls to go draw what they want their pumpkin to look like! So cute!!!

But, it didn't go further than this! haha.
We'll have to pick up on this activity another day and carve out the faces!

To be continued....

Halloween Party

[Oct 2013]
Every year, around this time, we get together with Olivia's Baby class...all these cuties were born within a week or two of each other.. Olivia was the last bundle to arrive! It's been such fun staying in contact over the years and watching them grow. Given that is was so close to Halloween, all the kids dressed up! It was pretty funny to watch Aubrey... a few ok the little ones would follow her around and pet her. She wasn't too sure what to do with that! ha!

BOO!!!

[Oct 31]

Children definitely make holidays so fun!!! I couldn't wait to get the girls their halloween costumes this year!! I have to say, this has go to be the cutest witch and most adorable elephant around!!!

We had a Trunk or Treat in our ward. It was so fun to dress the girls up, but oh-so-cold that day!! -15 degrees Celsius with the wind chill!

Halloween night was really cold as well. Too cold. But, Olivia had fun, especially loved seeing her footprints in the snow!! I took Aubrey home when we got to the end of our block. She was grateful to go to bed. Olivia and Wes stayed out a bit longer.

Before we went Trick-or -Treating, we carved a pumpkin! You can tell by the kid's expressions that they just LOVED it! haha

BOO! (Oct 25)

I came across a fun halloween idea...to BOO your neighbours! Google it if  you're interested, but basically you make a treat for your neighbours, leave them with instructions to make treats for other neighbours and place the "we've been booed" sign in their door. The point is to get your whole street boo-ing each other. Olivia and I made the treats, then she and daddy delivered them!!

**The very next morning we got the EXACT SAME PLATE back from one of our neighbours (we booed two). I wasn't sure what to think? Should I feel flattered or offended???

Then, the following day, we got booed again!! :) And, we have a pretty good idea of who did it!! How fun! There are only 2 of us on our street with the "We've Been Booed" sing in our window, but I'm pretty sure we'll do it again next year!...hopefully it'll catch on! :)

Happy Birthday To You (Oct 24)

Today is Olivia's 2nd Birthday! Even though we are not having her party until the weekend, we wanted to make her feel extra-special today. We hung balloons on her door so she would see them in the morning, I made pumpkin cinnamon buns for breakfast, and red-velvet cream cheese cupcakes for after lunch and dinner. At each meal we sand "Happy Birthday" to her and she got to blow out a candle. We had a fun afternoon of pumpkin carving! As you can tell by the picture, she felt a little embarrassed the first time we sang to her, but quickly got used to it! :) Also, we had planned on carving 3 pumpkins, but one took a lot longer than we expected (especially since I had to hold Aubrey the whole time). It was a perfect day!
