Snowtember!

I love Fall. I love the colors, the crispness in the air! And, that is exactly how September started. In my opinion, Summer was ending too soon, BUT I was happy to enjoy the beauty of Fall.  We knew SNOW was in the forecast, so we enjoyed every bit of Fall that was left.

We are living now with Wes' brother and his family. They live just a few step away from Fish Creek Park. We had such a nice little stroll in the park with our cousins!

And, the next day was probably even MORE fun (according to the children)

And then more snow came. This time, shutting off power for hours throughout the city! We were lucky enough to only have our power flicker a couple of times. Wes tried to take Olivia to school.... drove 7km in 1.5 hours.

Decided he wasn't going to get very far and turned around to have a SNOW DAY!!...
The girls got a kick out of the fact that daddy couldn't go to work because there was too much snow!

They enjoyed every last minute of it.

Hibernating!

[Dec 2 - Dec 8, 2013]

We got some CRAZY snow and COLD weather here this week! I believe the coldest it got was -39 C with the windchill.  We snuck out of the house on Wed (when it was only -25) for a playdate and some errands in the morning. Wes got stuck in the snow more than once...grateful for helpful neighbours! Olivia's school was cancelled on Tues. The rest of the week we watched the snow come down, kept busy with activities inside and were grateful to have a warm home to stay in!

Winter is here!

[Nov 24]

Winter is here. It was been for a while now...and is feeling very Christmas-y! So, naturally, we decided to put up the tree!!! We turned on the Christmas tunes and got to work! Aubrey spent most of her time bobbing up and down in front of the computer (where the music was playing). We had so much fun...the girls loved it! And, it's so pretty! :)

Let it snow!

[Feb 13]

Today we got snow. The the big, fluffy kind of flakes. Olivia and I took a few minuets to enjoy and "taste" them.

Holy Cow it's C O L D Outside!!

We have had some major cold spells lately (today being one of them)! This was November 18 and we woke up to a TON of snow everywhere, and is was sooooo freezing! Olivia and I decided we were NOT going outside that day and were grateful to have a warm, cozy day at home.

When Wes got home from work we wanted to take us the the mall a few minutes away and try out this new hamburger restaurant that was supposed to be amazing. A nice little outing is always fun, and I do know that Wes needs his "meat fixes" from time to time, and so we bundled up and headed out!

Wes was HAPPY to get a "real" hamburger and I was quite happy with the vegetarian kind. haha! Both were good! Afterwards we went into the Bass Pro Shop and Olivia LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it! She just kept laughing with excitement as we walked through!

Speaking of the cold weather, today Calgary was the 2nd coldest place in the WORLD!!!! Second to Antartica!!

Olivia and I had another "inside day" today. :)

It's only just begun...

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Winter, but seeing as how I live in Canada there is no escaping it! So, before Winter began this year I told myself that I would embrace the icy roads, cold weather, and dark, snowy days because there is nothing I can do about it...complaining about it or being annoyed won't change it, so just embrace it!

So, I did. I embraced the -45 degree temperatures while I was walking to and from the train each day, I embraced the snow blowing in my face and freezing my eyelashes to my skin, and I embraced my cheeks feeling like they are literally being burnt off my face by the freezing cold wind.

Lately the temperatures have been a bit warmer and I am grateful for that. But, I will admit that today I really didn't feel like embracing the cold snow blowing in my face and no matter how badly I want the sun and heat to be here, this cold and snowy season has only just begun!

On a brighter note....I really do love the beauty of fresh fallen snow, I love feeling cozy on a cold evening under a blanket with hot chocolate, and I love looking forward to SPRING!

Now, back to embracing....
